Childbirth Education Group Class
Make informed choices, learn strategies for a positive birth experience, and feel empowered on your journey into parenthood.
A note from Jacki
When I first found out that I was pregnant, I had no idea what I was getting into! I immediately called a local provider and assumed they would walk me through the process with my best interests in mind. As my pregnancy progressed and I dove into the research, listened to stories, and asked questions, I realized that not all aspects of birth were centered around the family itself. Particularly within a system deeply rooted in tradition over evidence and weighed down by liability concerns and hierarchy, getting myself educated and prepared was the best thing I could have done for my birth! Now, I love helping other parents do the same.

Frequently Asked Questions

Honestly, we don’t think it is ever too early or too late to take the class. We will cover material starting at how to choose your birth team and will go all the way through the early postpartum days, and being armed with the skillset to navigate your care early can be powerful. At the same time, it is never too late to get information and skills! If we had to pick, we’d suggest somewhere in the 2nd trimester would be optimal so that you have plenty of time to implement the tools but are also close enough to the birth that you remember what you learn!
-
Nope! Our goal is to give you information and tools to help you have the birth that feels right for YOU! If you want an unmedicated home birth, great! Plan on going to the hospital for an epidural or a planned c-section? We’ve got you covered for that too! No matter what your expectations are, we want you to be prepared for anything that comes your way and be confident in navigating your unique birth.
-
Absolutely not! While we love when first time parents get these tools, it is not uncommon to have parents who feel in their bones that their birth could have gone differently or want a different experience this time around. We have had so many parents heal from negative past experiences by having a redemptive, empowered birth in subsequent pregnancies and we want that for you too!
-
Yes! If your partner is available to attend classes with you, we highly encourage it as they can be play an incredibly important role in the birth too and they need to learn the tools for success just as much as the person giving birth. If you don’t have a partner or they aren’t able to attend, don’t worry, we will make sure we helping you with your individual needs too!
-
No worries. The bulk of the information is covered in the pre-recorded content to watch between sessions. We love expanding on the info, applying it to your unique situation, answering follow up questions, and so on while we are together, but you will still get plenty out of the class if you miss a session. We will do our best to catch you up or address any specific needs you have as possible too.
-
In SO many ways! We find that oftentimes, hospital-based classes are designed to really help you know and follow that hospital’s policies and procedures. In the Evidence Based Birth® Class, we want to give you the most up-to-date, research based information (that hospitals aren’t always following!) and help you navigate any discrepancies in what you want and “standard protocol.” Our aim is to keep in non-biased so that you can make the best decisions for you. Plus, we will go into hands-on techniques and with Jacki as your instructor, you will also get access to insight about navigating pregnancy, birth, and postpartum from the pelvic health perspective.
