Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are out of network with all insurance companies and require direct payment from clients. However, we are happy to provide a superbill with all of the information needed to submit a claim to your insurance company for reimbursement. For a list of questions to ask your insurance company regarding this process, click here. We also accept FSA and HSA cards.

  • No. Washington is a direct-access state for physical therapy services, meaning you can seek these without a physician referral. Some insurance companies do require a referral for reimbursement, so if you plan to submit claims, this would be a question to ask your insurance provider.

  • Unfortunately, these insurance providers do not allow physical therapists to accept direct payment from clients for services that they typically reimburse for. For this reason, we cannot see patients for physical therapy services from people who have Medicare or Medicaid, regardless of whether they are willing to pay out of pocket. We can see clients with these insurance plans for wellness and educational services.

  • On your first visit, we start by talking through your current concerns and history. We will then typically do an external movement exam to look at how your body is functioning as a whole and identify things that may be contributing to your symptoms outside of just the pelvic floor. Occasionally on your first visit but often at subsequent visits, we may do an internal vaginal exam or digital rectal exam to better appreciate the local muscles, tissues, and coordination of the pelvic floor. This can be helpful but is NEVER mandatory. You are in charge throughout the process! After discovering areas that may be playing a role in your concerns, we will begin an individualized treatment plan. This may include hands on therapy, exercise, education on lifestyle modifications, and more. We will continually check in throughout your plan of care to make sure it is working within your lifestyle and actually helping you reach your goals. If not, we may adjust what we are doing together, or find you a provider who is better suited to address your needs.

  • Absolutely not!!! Sometimes it can take a little more unlearning/relearning if you have been living with patterns that don’t serve your body optimally, but you can make a change at anytime!

  • No, no, no. First, let me say that you are NOT alone and these things (and more) can be incredibly common. But, if they continue after the very early postpartum stage, it is not normal. It is one of my biggest pet peeves when people are told they “just need to deal with it” or “what did you expect, you had a baby” or “just have a glass of wine before sex.” You deserve better!
