Grow Club

Confidence and body wisdom for growing girls

A fun, body-positive workshop helping girls understand their changing bodies, build confidence, and prepare for their first period.

Grow Club is a fun, welcoming workshop designed to help girls ages 8–11 learn about their amazing bodies before puberty and periods begin. Through interactive activities and open conversations, girls will learn basic anatomy, how their bodies grow and change, and how the menstrual cycle works. We’ll also talk about body and self confidence, using your voice to advocate for your needs, and how awesome and unique we all are!

Grow Club Lessons

  • Foundations (Day 1)

We will discuss female anatomy, how to decode our bodies signals, & general changes in puberty. Embracing differences in both timing of changes and overall body development will also be emphasized.

  • Cycles (Day 2)

We will go through all things menstrual cycle in this lesson including the basic stages of a menstrual cycle, preparing for your first period, and expectations around what having a period is like. We will also explore basic menstrual products and make a period kit to take home.

  • Confidence (Day 3)

After learning a lot about ourselves, we want to make sure we take the time to appreciate how special and important we are! We will discuss body autonomy, advocacy, and self-love so that girls will leave feeling both educated and empowered for the changes ahead.

 FAQs

  • Yes! The aim of this class is to help girls understand and prepare for puberty and their period before it actually happens. This is so that they aren’t caught off guard, confused, or embarrassed. We hope to change the transition from scary to empowering and we want our girls to feel excited about all the ways in which they are growing and changing!

  • It certainly can be! I don’t want any girl to hold confusion or shame around changes in their body and just because things may have already shifted doesn’t mean they automatically understand it all. We can help to demystify puberty and the menstrual cycle so that girls can move forward with confidence.

  • If you are feeling a little concerned about not being in the room with your child when they learn about these important topics, I get it because I am a parent who wants to be involved in things too!  However, it was important to me when designing this class that it is a safe space for just the girls. I want them to be curious, lead the conversations, and have fun, and even if you are a safe person in their life, having more grown ups in the room will shift the dynamic. All that being said, I think  having more adults who can continue conversations with them outside the classroom and encourage their growth will only serve them better! I will hold an optional zoom meeting ahead of the class for caregivers in order to address any questions or concerns and give you a sense of what exactly we will be doing in the class. Plus, I will provide summary handouts of the content, and will always be available for questions or concerns.

  • This is so common and not a problem at all! One of our ground rules is that we respect ourselves, and this includes being able to pass if something doesn’t feel comfortable. We will also have an anonymous questions box if that feels more approachable. Ultimately, we hope that embarrassment will decrease throughout the series, but as we reiterate through the course, we all develop on different timelines, so if someone doesn’t feel ready to engage fully yet, I also trust that they will absorb what they are ready to and have an opening for a later date.

  • This is of utmost importance in a series like this! Starting from the very beginning we will be setting ground rules that everyone will agree to. I also hope to lead by example in speaking about puberty, the menstrual cycle, and ourselves with clarity and respect.

  • We always recommend verifying this with your own plan, but our company is set up to accept these types of payment cards.
