Grow Club is a fun, welcoming workshop designed to help boys ages 8–13 learn about their amazing bodies before puberty begin. Through interactive activities and open conversations, boys will learn basic anatomy, how their bodies grow and change, and how to take care of themselves and the world around them. We’ll also talk about body and self confidence, using your voice and respecting others’ voices, and how awesome and unique we all are!
This small group class will include 3 core lessons:
Foundations: We will discuss male anatomy, basic female anatomy, and general changes in puberty. We will get practical with how to manage wet dreams and erections as well. Embracing differences in development will also be emphasized.
Care: We will go throughways boys can take care of themselves through puberty including hygiene, sleep, movement, and mood. We will also discuss how we can care for other people and the world around us and will make a craft to help symbolize how the boys want to show up in the world.
Confidence: To tie it all together, we will take time to reflect on how we talk to ourselves and the power of our voice. We will also practice how we use our voice with others and how we need to respect others’ voices too as we go through self-advocacy, consent, body-autonomy, and boundaries.
Plus, parents will be sent a copy of the manual so that they know what the class will involve and can reach out with questions at any time!
Grow Club for boys will be taught by Dr. Nathan Gilpin
